Spring is here

Spring is here…or it nearly is, and with that we feel inspired to be curious. We have been doing a lot to enhance the services we already offer, learning about our community, getting to know you individually, partnering with new people and organisations, building new relationships in the local area, and getting safer online, so we can share that with more people.

The aim of our activities is to inspire curiosity, learn more and shape a better future, but we are increasingly aware that not everyone has the ability to go outside or travel easily. Our current ‘Who do you think you are?’ campaign is proving just that, with so many people commenting that Middlesbrough is not easy to get around if you don’t have a car. We are working with Groundwork NE and Cumbria to find out more and establish ways to improve this for North Ormesby, Thorntree, South Bank and Grangetown. You can find out more about this in our blog.

With this in mind, we have started building online spaces to help those we don’t see face to face and to offer safe spaces to discuss specific topics. We will be sharing more ways to get involved online too including more videos, helpful tips and tools, support information and signposting to other services and providers.

As part of our digital inclusion work, we recently changed our email address to hello@cvl.org.uk. This is now the address to use to contact us about anything and everything CVL. Be sure to remove the old hello@communityventuresteesvalley.org' from any devices and use this new address going forward.

It was recently National Careers Week, which might seem like an event for teenagers getting ready for the world of work, but there is so much more to it. It’s a great way to help people of all ages learn what work is, why is it necessary, what careers are out there and how they have an impact on society. We know that voluntary or paid work is a great way to help you feel more confident and contribute to your community, so you can find some helpful resources on our FB over the coming weeks and we will also be integrating this topic into our regular youth sessions.

With the turn of the season comes the Easter break, and we have a whole host of new ways for you to get curious and build your confidence. From youth cycling sessions at Middlesbrough Sports Village, which you can book here, to art displays open to the public and our Stay and Play Easter party for children under 5. There’s something for adults, children and families, with regular sessions running all week, adult sessions open to families too and everything is free to attend!
